RUSSIAN AND UKRANIAN WAR

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine began in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea, a region that had previously been part of Ukraine. The annexation was met with international condemnation and led to the imposition of economic sanctions against Russia by the United States and the European Union.

Since then, fighting has continued in eastern Ukraine between Ukrainian government forces and pro-Russian separatists, who are believed to be supported by the Russian government. The conflict has resulted in thousands of deaths and has displaced many civilians.

The United States and the European Union have imposed additional economic sanctions on Russia in response to its involvement in the conflict, and the United Nations has condemned Russia's actions. Efforts to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the conflict have been ongoing, but progress has been slow. The conflict remains a significant source of tension between Russia and the West.
